Astor House hotel with its original name Richard hotel has a very long history which can date back to 1846 (Qing Dynasty Daoguang period, 26 years). Since its birth, the hotel enjoyed great fame not only in china, the Far East, but the whole world as a deluxe hotel for business men. The first lamp bulb in the country was lit here, the first telephone in the country was switched on here, and the first sound film from the West was projected here. The Astor House's Restaurant in the baroque style has a long history, which was special in Shanghai. The restaurant has many chefs experienced in cooking not only Shanghai cuisine but also many other foods. The restaurant has a grand hall to arrange 22 feast tables and seven compartments, which are the perfect place for business dinner, gatherings, weddings and birthday parties.
